  • Kid's Beginning Genealogy - February 19, President's Day. On this school holiday, we will have special help for helping children, grade 5 and older to get started with family history.
  • DNA Program - March 24 - Wondering about how DNA testing might help you with your genealogical research? Come see an interesting program for beginners or more experienced researchers. Join us in the Old Courthouse Museum courtroom at 10 a.m. Coffee and registration at 9:30 a.m. 

  • Infamous and Notorious of Iroquois County - April 15 - We will relive one of the most notorious trials in our history, with the help of the Milford High School drama club and be visited by Bartholemew William Barclay "Bat" Masterson.
  • One-on-One Research/Training - All week, May 7 - 11, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or by appointment. Call to sign up for FREE 2-hour sessions with an ICGS research volunteer.

  • Happy Illinois Bicentennial Birthday Bash! - June 24 - With the help of Terry Lynch from Histories for Kids, we will have a real party for the 200th birthday of the State of Illinois. Cake and FUN! #IllinoisProud



  • Friday the 13th Superstitions Supper - July 13 - 4:00-7:00 p.m. For a FREE will donation you will get a delicious bowl of soup, roll, dessert and drink. We will have some rooms in the Old Courthouse Museum "decorated" with superstitions...black cats, ladders, horseshoes, etc. and superstitious sayings posted all over. Wear your lucky charm and come dine with us.


  • Join us at the Iroquois County Agricultural and 4-H Fair, July 18 - 22. We will be in the Commercial Building with our publications for sale, great discussions and the ever-popular "Pick a Duck" game. Stop by to chat and grab a piece of candy and a fan.
Save shipping and pick up books in person.

We will be sharing our space with Iroquois County Historical Society.



  • Dog Days of Summer 5K and Dog Walk - August 5, tentative date.

  • One-on-One Research/Training - All week, August 6 - 10, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or by appointment. 


  • Cemetery Walk - September 9 in a cemetery to be determined from your Facebook votes.

  • Harvest Daze on the Old Courthouse Grounds - October 6-7, Watseka, Illinois. We will be serving Ham & Beans dinner and sponsoring our Pumpkin Contest.

  • October is Family History Month - Watch for more activities all month.

  • ICGS Annual Membership Meeting - November 3.

  • ICGS Volunteer Dinner - December 19.
